This EP is a kind of continuation of Rebirth, but a bit more experimental, as we can see in the tracks "Caça e Caçador" and "Mama". The most Rebirth-like song is "Eyes of Christ", one of the highlights of the EP. The acoustic version of Rebirth is great, but Heroes of Sand not so much. All in all, a great EP. It's a enjoyable doom metal album. Analyzing it coldly, it's just a good album, nothing more. The first track "Ulvaskall (Vargr)" is excellent. The rest, just good. It's very difficult to make a doom metal album without sounding monotonous (I'm saying this as a doom metal fan). But as far as it goes, Grand Magus does a good job here. A good album. Amazing tracks like "Sun Doesn't Rise", "Kil Tomorrow", the long "Destroy the World Around Me". But that's about it. "Our Own Way" also deserves a mention. The album starts off on fire with hit after hit, falls off a bit on "Mic Check", but comes back with two bombs: "Sleep Now in The Fire" and "Born of a Broken Man". In the second half of the album, I think "Voice of the Voiceless" is a notable highlight, but that's about it. It's not better than Rage's first album, but it's probably their second best album. I'm amazed at how this band makes strong songs that showcase the brilliance of Mal Spooner and David Hill. Even on this album that I'm not particularly a fan of. Here, the group embraces the progressive style. A great thing by the way. "Fromm the Outside" is amazing. "The Link" and "New Ground" too. This is not good as the previous albums. I think the tracks with a number in the title and Paul Bostaph are the reasons this isn't a 60/100 album. A little of the same on all tracks. Bostaph is a monster here. A great drummer. The first track “Killing Fields” brings hope that this will be a good album, but the rest of the work does not follow Slayer's standard. The great heavy metal work by Gary Moore. "Cold Hearted", "Don't Take me for a Loser", "End of the World" with Jack Bruce vocals, besides the song "Wishing Well", a great Free cover, makes the record one of the best of the genre. The self-titled track is the best one in this album, but "Never Know Why" have a good hard rock riff with a great chorus. "Secret Loser" is great too also with a good chorus to sing. I probably like this folk-prog style more than the death metal, but i found this album a little bit of repetitive although there's some good tracks like "In My Time of Need" and " Death Whispered a Lullaby". This is not just a simple album by a random metal band, this is an experience, a long journey that lasted 20 years and finally ended in the most masterful way possible. I'm still at a loss for words to describe what this album means to me, Time I was my favorite album and Sons Of Winter and Stars my life song, but I believe that now this has finally been surpassed mainly by Silver Leaves, which for me is the best thing Jari has ever composed. Absolutely amazing, this is one of the best metal albums ever! Everybody loves the way of the fire and one with the shadows, yet Storm really is something else. I can't get tired enough, I have heard this more than 20 times already and still I find new sounds and details everytime I listen to it. It's not a metal album, Time I and II are a complete symphony. Again? So once again? For real. Stratovarius has once again made an almost perfect album, while updating their own sound and inventing a completely new genre: modern power metal. "Survive" is the band's best since the masterpiece "Visions", with the song material being of unimaginable quality. 네오클래시컬 이라는 지금은 죽어버린 이 서브장르 내에서 이보다 뛰어난 작품은 없다고 본다. 잉베이 1집, 토니 매컬파인 2집 (에릭 존슨과 스티브 바이의 작품은 이 범주애 넣지 않았음) 정도만 이 작품에 견줄 수 있으며 워낙 꿀꿀이 보컬을 많이 들어서 그런가 피터 마리노의 보컬도 개성있고 좋다. 아트마 아뉘르의 시대를 앞서간 드러밍도 예술이다.   Sep 4, 2024
