Good black metal with a bit of influence from viking metal if you ask me. Nov 11, 2024

A gorgeous shoegaze album. I guess Damián is putting all the black metal songwriting into Trhä these days. Also, it's nice for an artist to do a lot of blackgaze and post-BM, but then show us they actually understand what straight-up shoegaze is. The vocals are just astounding. That doesn't mean I can tell who's doing which vocals though, and I don't particularly need to know to enjoy this. Nov 11, 2024

I don't quite like the songwriting or the clean vocals, but I still can't go negative on this album. The pro musicianship does make it listenable, but on balance it ends up being an innocuous experience. Nov 11, 2024

Yes very nice, and I'm not surprised that Integrity and their peers created a whole style of music. Metalcore actually started in a very good place. Also, it's a place with more in common with hardcore punk than more recent bands have. I'll be glad to try any Integrity album in the future. Nov 11, 2024

Good very emotional songs, and I didn't get any of that melodic metalcore cringe. Good work by Poison the Well. Nov 11, 2024

Very good and very solid. The drummer surprised me because I tend to think of 80s heavy metal as a sea of simple percussion. Really really not the case here. Nov 11, 2024

The last track really blew me away, but the whole thing is very fun music. Nov 11, 2024

Very good music here. With that album cover, remember there's some other sub-genres too - not just black metal. Nov 11, 2024

All that soloing surely helped this become such a smash at the closing of the 80s. I find the style of their 1985 album a bit more enjoyable, but this one is also well played with tons of energy and great melodies. Nov 11, 2024

So I learned that this serial killer / mass murderer theme is something they've been doing since the beginning. Very good early album from one of the best bands out there today. Nov 11, 2024

Pretty good. I like how it's very heavy metal and traditional doom, while also keeping some traditional Japanese culture in the vocal delivery. At the same time, the vocals are the weak point because they need project more or resonate more... something needs to be more. Nov 11, 2024

Good industrial album, and nice to learn of this artist who switches between quite different kinds of music apparently. Bear in mind, the first track will be unlistenable to most humans. The rest of the album is a real pleasure though. Don't abandon ship, maybe just switch to track 2. Nov 11, 2024

Pretty good music here. The vocals were the weak point for me. Nov 11, 2024

Crazy energy on this short album. rateyourmusic needs to learn the difference between cybergrind and industrial metal. It wasn't what I was searching for, but I appreciated the energy. Nov 11, 2024

I wasn't expecting the brilliance & expertise I heard on Pleonectic, their 2023 release. Hacking the Holy Code was really decent, however. Good industrial songs and some good symphonic BM as well. Nov 11, 2024

I was trying to have an industrial Tuesday last week, and this one gave me the dystopian atmosphere I was really craving. The ambient element is well-crafted and infectious. That submarine-feeling sound in the mix really affects me. The mechanical-feeling metal instrumentation is great too, and everything fits together perfectly. Extremely glad I gave this band a try. Nov 11, 2024

Definitely more than 50% groove metal. Also not so good. Well, a little good. Nov 11, 2024

Nice doomgaze here from Outlander. I can't say anything about the slowcore sub-genre out of ignorance, but anyway this album was a good & spacey chance to chill out. The cover photo also sparks my imagination. Nov 11, 2024

So last week I had a mathcore Monday, and this quick EP had enough manic energy in it to leave a real impression. Nov 11, 2024

Rather good, but as for the heaviness there is no rather; it's as heavy as ten elephants. Nov 11, 2024

Some say this is early mathcore, but anyway, I find it noticeably better than Botch, so it was good news. Nice hardcore feel to it, and nothing negative to say about this one. Nov 11, 2024

I remember when the closing title track was a new single on the radio - it was a nice memory that really stuck around. Now I find it's still great, but I'm starting to love track 2 more than I used to. Just like this album concludes in style, the band concluded their bold career with brilliance by releasing this great album. Nov 11, 2024

Cool EP by Primordial Serpent. Track 2 was especially nice. Nov 11, 2024

I used to play this album very very frequently. Now, after a bunch of years for a break, I'm amazed to find even more quality in it than I used to. All instruments including voice are just so phenomenal, the songs are inventive and expertly written, and the lyrics are crazy visceral while having true thought put into them. Even more of a flawless victory than you can get in Mortal Kombat (1992 Style). Nov 11, 2024

The score from the movie Halloween but covered. The original music was by John Carpenter, the director, and it's a major highlight of film history. Ulver can't go wrong with the iconic main theme, but the quality doesn't quite stay at the same level all the way through this album. Still, it's cool to see Ulver do something like this. Just learned about this band, and I'm very excited to catch up with them. Great black metal with some death metal for variety. Dark and gorgeous. Nov 4, 2024

The gothic metal of this album really hit the spot for me. Even the softer moments don't feel like filler. Thank you Tribulation. Nov 4, 2024

Not a good album. Actually very disappointing considering how their 2015 album was pretty good. This time there's not enough djent. Instead they wrote very weak emotionless & boring verses. Yeah the choruses are better in comparison, still nothing I'd call good. Even a bit overproduced. Overall, it's a bad album. Nov 4, 2024

Mar 30, 2025

I'm pretty sure this is the best debut in history. Sonata Arctica immediately does what they do best and the result is amazing. "FullMoon" is a great song. Mar 11, 2025

Great album but not at the level of the debut in my opinion. The band tries a bit of progressive direction with pretty good results, although some songs are quite weak. The end of the album is great. Good job Sonata! Mar 11, 2025

DT caught my attention with their previous album and this one confirms my thoughts on them. I´m not so fond of their old stuffs but these 2 keep me on my feet and I will go back to them regularly. Mar 12, 2025

4 days ago

Like "Silence", only 1000 times better. The band's absolute best album. Not all the songs are masterpieces, but the best ones are incredible and the atmosphere of the album is epic. Mar 11, 2025

그 나이에 이게 데뷔앨범 이라는게 믿기지 않는다...다만 이때 모든 힘을 쏟은 것일까...ㅠ Mar 12, 2025

Probably Judas Priest's most commercially successful album, and it's extremely good. The song material is brilliant, and if we forget the existence of "Pain And Pleasure" and "Fever", it's perfect. The "Hellion/Electric Eye" duo is still one of the greatest opening tracks in metal history. The production is tuned to exactly the level that a band of this class should have. And then there's Rob Halford. Absolutely phenomenal, a top-3 Priest album for me. Mar 13, 2025

Rainbow leaves classic hard rock behind with their second album and begins to create the beginnings of the genre that would later be called power metal. The song material is practically perfect and the album features perhaps the strongest band line-up in history. The last two songs are pure masterpieces. If melodic old-school heavy metal with incredible vocal performances interests you, now you know where to look. Legendary! Mar 15, 2025
