One of those bands I've taken a long time to actually give a listen to. I'm glad I finally did, because this is good black metal. Feb 9, 2025

This is very weird in every way. If you like industrial, sludge, & crust, this still might not be what you're expecting. It is a trip to an exotic soundscape, so Shum deserves a lot of credit for that. Clearly overrated by the RYM people, but they're right to give it a good rating. Feb 9, 2025

A rather solid 20 minutes. There's a lot of break-neck speed as you might expect, but they do change things up here & there to keep you guessing. Tracks 8 and 16 really stood out for me. Feb 9, 2025

Another wonderful album by this band. The mood is just pitch black and the blackened vocals are perfect. Speaking of perfect, that closing track could not be better. It's so nice to see 'endless' in the track title when it's a song I never want to stop hearing. Feb 9, 2025

A truly excellent album and one of the many high points of a great discography. I love the title track the most, but track 2 and the whole 2nd half of the album are invigorating and really make me feel an expert touch to the composition and instrumentation, especially those captivating riffs. Even though black metal is my favorite, I find that as Bathory started exploring and creating new genres, their music only got better and better. Feb 9, 2025

A new slam group, and I can say they achieved the genre they're going for, which surely took some work. I don't quite feel the excitement that slam have, but live & learn and all that. Still something heavy to listen to; not bad in particular. Feb 9, 2025

Great start for a new band. There are some clean vocals on this one; don't be misled if you noticed it was on slam worldwide - it's not slam. Anyway, pretty good. Feb 9, 2025

Maybe it's just my musical tastes, but track 3 is just pure bliss, and it's way more enjoyable than the other tracks. Nothing particularly bad though, and track 6 actually sounds apropos for its title, which might surprise some people, considering it's doomgaze. Feb 5, 2025

A couple of songs are a bit uninspired, but most are solid with nice vocals. Track 2 really stands out for me. Feb 5, 2025

Quite wonderful how the gnarly death metal vibes combine with the mournful doom ones. Also, I really appreciate such a Lovecraftian album cover matching with this kind of music. Feb 5, 2025

Debut EP from these doom death musicians, and it's a stellar start. You might notice that track 2 is a self-titled track. It makes sense that a band would really mean business when they name a song after their band and, well, Onirophagus really meant business when they recorded that beast of song. Feb 5, 2025

Rather good brutal deathgrind, with all the speed & clobbering that those sub-genre's promise. Feb 5, 2025

Very solid album with a vocal tone that is just right. Feb 5, 2025

For me, it's better than the 2005 album, but still not as masterful as the debut. Moth is my favorite song here, but so many others are so great, including the unconventional Broken City. Feb 5, 2025

After 25 years Revenge switches gears to do comfy synth covers of Barry Manilow songs. It's the perfect album for snuggling in thick comforters around a fireplace with you grandma surrounded by friendly golden retrievers while talking about the funny things you did as a baby. I, for one, welcome this completely different new era for this illustrious band. Feb 3, 2025

Pretty good, but a far cry from their legendary The Fall of Ideals. The worst I can say about this new album is that a lot of the vocals in the verse are just going through the motions with no inspiration. Most choruses are more inspired, and there are enough catchy moments and tight musicianship to make it a good listen in the end. Feb 3, 2025

This is a nice & grim death metal album in very good taste in terms of composition.... even if most of humanity disagrees with their taste in cover art. Feb 3, 2025

Noticeably less enjoyable than their 2007 album, but nothing is particularly bad except for track 7, Never Say Die. Feb 3, 2025

Achievement Unlocked: top-tier song titles. The percussion could very well be a machine gun. Very solid & jam-packed 18-minute EP, and the slower & dark closing track draws a wonderful contrast. Jan 31, 2025

Compared to their 2014 release, this one has the same grinding speed & harshness, plus an extra layer of deep & dank moods making for a richer experience. The instrumentation is precise & engaging. This band destroyed the whole earth for a decade and left some amazing recordings we should cherish from now on. Jan 31, 2025

Very well played, a great sound, and a satisfying dose of speediness. Jan 31, 2025

It has some good moments, but it gets into a bit of a rut with all these tiny pauses in the songs. All in all, a bit good to my ear. Jan 31, 2025

First things first, it's the first track, and it's a massive success because it's so engaging and inspired. The rest of the album is good too, but just not on the level of track 1. A funny thing - listening to this album the word 'soulful' started coming to mind... and mfw I see I already wrote 'soulful' last year about their 2016 album. mfw I'm just a username on this website. Apparently this band wants to bring doom to film scores. Cool idea. This album would work better for me if it had more variety in its beats. In the end, still OK. Jan 30, 2025

Noticeably better than their 2006 album. I especially love track 2. Jan 30, 2025

The riffing seems to be pushing the limits of human hand speed. Everything about this album is extremely enjoyable. Tracks 4 & 12 really captured my heart. Jan 30, 2025

Not a good photo for an album cover. The music is mostly good. 2 surprises, the sentimental track 3 is really nice even though rock & metal bands tend to botch the sentimental song, and the long trippy ambient outro is quite listenable. Jan 29, 2025

Mar 30, 2025

I'm pretty sure this is the best debut in history. Sonata Arctica immediately does what they do best and the result is amazing. "FullMoon" is a great song. Mar 11, 2025

Great album but not at the level of the debut in my opinion. The band tries a bit of progressive direction with pretty good results, although some songs are quite weak. The end of the album is great. Good job Sonata! Mar 11, 2025

DT caught my attention with their previous album and this one confirms my thoughts on them. I´m not so fond of their old stuffs but these 2 keep me on my feet and I will go back to them regularly. Mar 12, 2025

4 days ago

Like "Silence", only 1000 times better. The band's absolute best album. Not all the songs are masterpieces, but the best ones are incredible and the atmosphere of the album is epic. Mar 11, 2025

그 나이에 이게 데뷔앨범 이라는게 믿기지 않는다...다만 이때 모든 힘을 쏟은 것일까...ㅠ Mar 12, 2025

Probably Judas Priest's most commercially successful album, and it's extremely good. The song material is brilliant, and if we forget the existence of "Pain And Pleasure" and "Fever", it's perfect. The "Hellion/Electric Eye" duo is still one of the greatest opening tracks in metal history. The production is tuned to exactly the level that a band of this class should have. And then there's Rob Halford. Absolutely phenomenal, a top-3 Priest album for me. Mar 13, 2025

Rainbow leaves classic hard rock behind with their second album and begins to create the beginnings of the genre that would later be called power metal. The song material is practically perfect and the album features perhaps the strongest band line-up in history. The last two songs are pure masterpieces. If melodic old-school heavy metal with incredible vocal performances interests you, now you know where to look. Legendary! Mar 15, 2025
