To me it sounds like most of the album is doom, maybe an influence on depressive BM... Anyway, these songs were pretty good to my ear. Sep 23, 2024

The vocals are particularly bad on this one. If you can get past that, tracks 5 & 7 are so-so. The last track is 9 minutes straight of low-quality clanging sword sound effects, i.e. 9 minutes of garbage. Bad album. Sep 23, 2024

Some songs such as the first track are great but a lot of them rely too much on the singer and don't really have enough of a raison d'être. The final track, which is a cover song, is done in too quiet of a fashion and I can't get into it. I'd say half the songs are okay but flawed, and the other half is straight up good. Sep 23, 2024

Update for me - Jane's Addiction started creating new music when they got back together. I am really delighted to hear that they still had the same magic they had in the late 80s & early 90s. What a fantastic set of four people, all contributing to this dynamite album. Sep 23, 2024

A very DIY artist making gothic metal apparently. This album is pretty good, but it could use some trimming. Sep 23, 2024

It feels pretty amateur to me but..... it's a first album, so no complaining, right/ Sep 18, 2024

Top-tier playing on this really solid album by Demiser. Sep 18, 2024

I love the séance feeling this EP has. Sep 18, 2024

A couple short segments here & there are a bit awkward, but overall it's still a fun album; I mean I wouldn't skip any track. I particularly love track 4. Good work by REZN. Sep 18, 2024

Heáfodbán switches things up between pagan BM and war metal, and sometimes it's hard to notice exactly when things switched because it's these transitions that really show their great composing skill. There's also a trace of depressive BM in there, and it works wonderfully like the rest of the metal. The last two tracks, folk & drone, are okay to my ear, but the rest of the album is straight up rapturous. Sep 18, 2024

I appreciate the music and the campy satanic ritual theme too. Sep 18, 2024

There's a ton of fury but the rhythm shows such precision that I'm really impressed. This war metal band was rather short-lived, but produced this good album. All respect for that. Sep 18, 2024

For me it's just somewhat good, but this is a band that deserves a true salute for taking this first step in a discography that goes to great places. Sep 18, 2024

Good controlled chaos that actually has some jazzy and funky turns of melody baked into these harsh compositions. This is also where you can get that dose of in-your-face sassiness that the genre promises. Sep 15, 2024
Cosmicism 75/100
You might be guessing that the recording quality on this is very low, and then you'd be right. Even so, there are quite a few 'hell yeah' moments that emerge from the static. Sep 15, 2024
Cosmicism 85/100
The atmosphere of a desolate travesty permeates this quick album, so it's not on the typically extremely sassy side of sasscore. This might be a plus or a minus for you if you're familiar with the obscure microgenre. I also note that this oppressive atmosphere fits perfectly with the horrid theme implied by the band's name. Definitely so-so mediocre and nothing special. I find their 2009 album pretty good, but Plagues is just yet another album that fails to break the curse of metalcore. Sep 15, 2024

The first few songs had me thinking this was too early in the band's evolution, but most of the album is actually groovy and invigorating. Not so far off from their legendary 1995 album. Sep 15, 2024

Here is my glorious pick of the week, which faced very tough competition. As I've come to expect from this top-tier band, the eerie beauty and the terrifying evil are both turned up to the maximum. Sep 15, 2024

I was looking for good dissonant BM. Though I had my suspicions about mathcore being in the mix, I'm very happy I gave it a try. The unique combination of sub-genres is refreshing, but the apocalyptic and hectic vibes astounded me. I can't get enough of this devastating album. Sep 15, 2024

Very interesting music here, and quite different & unique. One member is from Vile Haint, which I respect a ton, and the awesome Starer is a guest. I think this project is about being adventurous and taking chances. Not for everyone; a challenging listen, but it's impressive, ambitious, and quite stunning at times. Sep 15, 2024

I like the prospect of these songs, but I couldn't really feel them. This was more about respecting their abilities at this early stage, and not so much about enjoying the music. Except for the last track - that one really touched me. Sep 15, 2024

Very interesting EP with some foreboding feels and mournful ones too. I liked the 2nd track a little more than the first. Sep 15, 2024

A wonderful black metal album, and now I have to hear more from Isolert, which - of course- I look forward too. Sep 15, 2024

A great album - their best since 2014's The Divination of Antiquity. Track 2 is the masterpiece of this album for me, but there are a bunch of other high points as well. Also, I'm so happy to see a new album from them after 4 years. Sep 15, 2024

Powerful and spellbinding brutal music. The nightmare landscape of the cover is a great match with these songs. Well done all around. Sep 15, 2024

It's good and surely quite challenging to play. These songs didn't work as well for me as something by TesseracT or Polyphia, and I started getting impatient. Maybe this one's better for metalheads who are super partial to progressive metal. Sep 15, 2024
Cosmicism 75/100
Kind of absurd, but intentionally, and it's definitely enjoyable. Not great, but pretty good. It would be better without the voice-over samples. Sep 15, 2024

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
