They finally did it. After honing their skills for more than 15 years they created such an astounding album that I was enthralled for the whole hour. I give tracks 1, 6, & 7 the highest score possible, and if you check out the track lengths, that's more than half the album. Very ambitious album. Also, the different styles contrast with each other in such a refreshingly obnoxious way. It's like they're daring fans of classic rock, progressive metal, symphonic black metal, jazz, and classical to all try something they might hate. Absolutely my pick of the day. Also, this is clearly a band everyone needs to start paying attention to. On this album, the riffing is fantastic. The vocals are good. The bass and drums are great. Their songwriting is top-notch, and the timing perfect and energizing. It's mostly thrash, but there're a few surprise influences from power metal, hard rock, and even glam metal. Bringing djent to the rave or dance club here. How the whole minatory/deathstep/brostep/dubstep situation breaks down is a foreign language to me, but I can feel a real blend of the metal and electronica worlds (not one accompanying the other). 아무래도 이 1집에서는 많은 이들이 Sweet Child o' Mine을 꼽겠지만, 내게 있어서 이 앨범 최고의 곡은 절대적으로 Nightrain이다. 밴드의 정체성, 색깔, 연주력 등을 한 번에 대변해주는 곡이랄까. 심지어 가사까지 말이다. 같이 늙어간다는 말이 어울리겠지만, 그때의 열정 속에서 Nightrain을 외치고 연주를 하던 그들의 모습은 정말로 젊음의 영웅이자 양아치였다.   Mar 19, 2025

Probably Judas Priest's most commercially successful album, and it's extremely good. The song material is brilliant, and if we forget the existence of "Pain And Pleasure" and "Fever", it's perfect. The "Hellion/Electric Eye" duo is still one of the greatest opening tracks in metal history. The production is tuned to exactly the level that a band of this class should have.
