I am just not compelled by this band. It's a lot of heaviness with no mood, no memorable riffs... Jan 13, 2025

Oceanborn was better. This one is a little too soft and fluffy. Jan 13, 2025

My rating might seem mediocre, but for one of my least favorite genres (Grindcore) this is truly an impressive feat. Genuinely good songwriting and riffs can be found here. Most of the songs are too short to offer much, but even those are inoffensive at worse, which is already better than most Grindcore. I applaud this album. Jan 13, 2025

One of the best Motorhead albums. A few classic Speed Metal tracks, and the second half in particular is a great ride. Jan 13, 2025

Better than the last album, but I still find this far inferior to the band's early style. Focused more on dense heaviness than actually writing compelling riffs. Still plenty good, but knowing what they can achieve... Jan 13, 2025

A great album for sure, but a huge step down from their debut in my opinion. Though I seem alone in that opinion. Jan 13, 2025

Impressive and unique. Big weakness here is that the music doesn't evoke anything. No emotion or mood. So, the potential is wasted a bit. Jan 13, 2025

Actually found this worth than Burn the Priest. It's just... really boring. Less energy, less aggression, more rhythmic chugs. Jan 13, 2025

Probably the band's worst album. Even this one has a couple fantastic songs, but it's loaded with filler. Jan 13, 2025

Mediocre start for the great Killswitch Engage. There's some Deathcore here they would thankfully leave behind. Jan 13, 2025

Some great ideas and songs here, but it's waaay too bloated. Should have condensed it to 10 tracks, at most. Jan 13, 2025

Clayman is the album where In Flames begin to find their modern identity. Lyrics become introspective, clean vocals pop up here and there, but by and large this is still driven by their classic Gothenburg Melodeath style. Amazing masterpiece. Jan 13, 2025

Impelliteri are quite consistent at delivering the goods, and this album is another package of very solid and speedy Neoclassical Metal. Jan 13, 2025

Almost as good as the previous album. Don't see why it doesn't get the same love. Stylistically very similar, and full of fantastic riffs. Jan 13, 2025

One of the band's best albums. When I relistened to it, I was surprised at just how catchy it is. Sure it may be Pop Metal, but unless you're insecure, that just makes for a great time singing along to heartbreak and gothic romance. Jan 13, 2025

The later half of the nineties were monumental for Helloween, and thankfully they carried that flame straight into the 2000's. Dark Ride is, appropriately, probably their darkest and heaviest record (which still isn't that much for the ever playful Helloween) and it's loaded with fantastic music. Jan 13, 2025

An improvement over their first ep, thankfully moving away from the Deathcore sound. Still, it's not so great. Jan 13, 2025

A solid and satisfactory record. But I will say, as a huge Power Metal fan, this is a bit sub-par for the genre, and doesn't match the power of their debut. Jan 13, 2025

The best thing Halford had done outside of Priest. There are a lot of great songs here, but I will say, nothing that comes close to the metal god's days in Priest. Jan 13, 2025

There's basically more Classical Music here than Metal. And it just doesn't work for me. "Prophecy Fulfilled / And the Dark Night Entered" showcases the band melding their unique style of Metal with Classical compositions, each playing to the other's strengths, but the majority of this album does not succeed in the same way. Jan 13, 2025

Really strange album. Eclectic, but inconsistent. The more somber tracks work well, the bizzaro Prog songs not as much. Jan 13, 2025

Graveland has remained consistent in style, and for me, that style is... pretty average in quality. Slow, repetitive Black Metal tracks that occasionally have some quality atmosphere, but more often than not meander a bit longer than what is preferable. Jan 13, 2025

Loved the band's debut, which was much more straightforward, hard hitting Black Metal. This one is a lot more Viking-epic style, but to me, they don't pull off the style as well. It's good, but far less dark. Jan 13, 2025

I had high hopes for this one as a huge Fates Warning fan. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. It has very little emotion, and some of the songs are pretty great and well, composed, but nothing comes close to the emotionally gripping material on their past 4 albums. No catchy choruses either, the vocal lines are decidedly weaker and less prominent. Jan 13, 2025

Standard modern Exciter. I will say, the vocals on this one get a little... distracting. Jan 13, 2025

The first release by this band that has truly impressed me. Fantastic Melodeath, very consistent, and sometimes with Gothic touches that just improve things. Jan 13, 2025

Their best album since Wolverine Blues. Which isn't a high bar, but this is a decent comeback for the band, getting back to death 'n' Roll at least. Jan 13, 2025

Enslaved had played it rather safe the past couple albums, so this one really surprised me. A ton of powerful atmosphere here, great riffs and songwriting. One of their best I'd say. Jan 13, 2025

Without a doubt the band's worst album. Everything about the music here is very juvenile. The title track still rocks even after all this time though. Jan 13, 2025

Many people see a deep drop off here. I just see another fantastic Dismember album. Jan 12, 2025

3 days ago

Great classic album with incredible songs like "The Evil That Men do","Moonchild" or "The Clairvoyant". Mar 4, 2025

Mar 10, 2025

I'm pretty sure this is the best debut in history. Sonata Arctica immediately does what they do best and the result is amazing. "FullMoon" is a great song. Mar 11, 2025

Great album but not at the level of the debut in my opinion. The band tries a bit of progressive direction with pretty good results, although some songs are quite weak. The end of the album is great. Good job Sonata! Mar 11, 2025

DT caught my attention with their previous album and this one confirms my thoughts on them. I´m not so fond of their old stuffs but these 2 keep me on my feet and I will go back to them regularly. Mar 12, 2025

Very good album by Dream Theater. As always Mar 4, 2025

The "Ram It Down" is a very underrated album, but in 1988 in the german Metal Hammer looked like a new classic by the soundcheck.Otherwise the "Ram it Down" and the "Hard As Iron"(with thundering riff) are great fast classic Priest songs. All in all i think only the "Love Zone" is the only one problematic song and the Lp is great.. Mar 8, 2025
