Album of the day #10. Annihilator - Set The World On Fire
Excellent album. Although Annihilator is better known as an artist of flashy technical trash, the band showed with "Set The World On Fire" that it is also capable of more melodic and calm music, without turning into a glam band. The album's production is also at an excellent level.
Annihilator is a special band because the members of the group change all the time and only guitarist Jeff Waters' playing can be heard on every album. The special thing is that in that album the members' short time together is not heard at all, but the band's chemistry is at a wonderful level, and everyone's contribution is equally great. Both the young drummer Mike Mangini and Aaron Randall, who does a convincing vocal performance. Musically, the album is also quite convincing, there are hardly any real hiccups.
Actually, the Achilles heel of the whole album is its excessive diversity. There are already so many different genres in music, from glam metal to prog, that the whole thing suffers, and it definitely eats away fans. However, for mixed metal listeners like myself, this is not a problem, and it is indeed the last classic Annihilator album. Give it a chance, it's worth it.
Climax: Set The World On Fire, Phoenix Rising
Anticlimax: Don't Bother Me

Read More

Read More
