As far as Sigh albums go, this one is pretty aggressive and straightforward. Parts of me enjoy that, knowing there isn't any monkey business on this record. Jul 29, 2024

Passable, at best. Nothing remotely memorable, stand out, creative or unique on this record. In one ear out the other. Jul 29, 2024

Some of the Industrial Gothic stylings work well here, like "Little Music Box." But it's very inconsistent, "Android" for example is a mess. Jul 29, 2024

Scorpion's Soft Rock Ballad album, still with some strong rockers on it though. Not their best by a longshot, but I think it's over hated. Jul 29, 2024

A mess quality wise. This album has some of my favorite Saxon songs ever, and it also has "Piss Off," which is beyond embarrassing. Jul 29, 2024

This album appears to be quite disliked. I think it's quite good, slightly more Industrial than previous albums, but they pull the style off well. Only weak points are the dumb interludes. Jul 29, 2024

Kind of baffling. They keep a similar style to the previous album, just... kind of lost all sense of urgency and memorability. Mostly good-but-not-great material the fails to live up to their potential. Jul 29, 2024

Continuation of their Blackened Thrash Heavy Metal. Not as strong or consistent as the previous two albums, but still quite good. Jul 29, 2024

Another great Melodeath/Gothic album from Rotting Christ. This one does lack any true highlights, but it's quite consistent. Jul 29, 2024

Root have a unique style of Epic Blackened Heavy Metal, and this time they add a healthy does of Gothic Metal to the mix. Strong and consistent, but ends on a terrible choice of an outro. Jul 29, 2024

90's Riot has been surprisingly consistent, and this is no exception. Strong Heavy Metal with great riffs. "Cover Me" and "Dragonfire" are career highlights. Jul 29, 2024

Rage take a more Symphonic Approach here. Probably their most lush, smooth, and melodic album. It lacks energy in places, but the density makes up for it. Very good album. Jul 29, 2024

I think it's a little silly how low this is always rated. Far from the band's bet material, yes, but it's a serviceable Rock record..."The Right Side of My Mind" is a great closer, but the rest is just kind of there. Jul 29, 2024

I really am not a fan of Primus' goofy Avant-Garde style, but they reeled it in here just enough for it to be tolerable at least. Jul 28, 2024

Lyrics and rhythm section are phenomenal, boring chuggy guitars really lose me. Not nearly as emotional as it could have been with actual riff/chord melodies. Jul 28, 2024

Paradise Lost drop Metal altogether and go a strange way into Synthpop Gothic Rock. I didn't like this when I first heard it, but it's grown on me over the years. Jul 28, 2024

Overkill in the 90's has been rather embarrassing to witness. This one is possibly their worst of that era. Really very little Thrash, it's mostly boring Groove Metal. Jul 28, 2024

Unfortunately does not come close to approaching the masterwork of their debut, but it's still a fantastic Melodic Death Doom record! Jul 28, 2024

Nevermore's transition into something resembling Dark Metal, touching up their Progressive Thrash style with Gothic delivery and somber atmospheres. Very strong effort overall. Jul 28, 2024

Not the most exciting Neoclassical album. Remains mid-tempo most of the time, Power Metal only in aesthetic. Still solid and enjoyable though. Jul 28, 2024

Napalm Death are stuck in their Death Groove phase, delivering serviceable but unimpressive records one after another. Jul 28, 2024

Another fantastic piece of Death Doom from My Dying Bride. Awesome dark and heavy atmosphere, riffs for days. Jul 28, 2024

Mr. Bungle's style of bizzarro circus Metal/Rock never appealed to me. I like "Retrovertigo" though, probably my favorite song by them. Jul 28, 2024

Similarly to the previous record, it's got some fantastic songs on it, but a lot of filler. Inconsistent. Jul 28, 2024

There were some songs here that were quite dark and atmospheric that I could enjoy. But overall, not my cup of tea at all. More than one unbearable track here. Jul 27, 2024

Disappointing by Metal Church standards, almost all Thrash influence is gone while this sits comfortably in delivering mid-tempo Heavy Metal riffs. Still good, but they can do much better. Jul 27, 2024

After an incredibly consistent career, Mercyful Fate hang up the axes with a farewell album as good as anything they did. "Insane" ranks among my favorite tracks of theirs. Jul 27, 2024

It's not terrible, it's just... boring. The songs are passable, just never what I'd choose if I want Megadeth... or Hard Rock. Jul 27, 2024

Wildly underrated, this is about as good as Neoclassical Metal gets! Fantastic vocals and catchy compositions make this much more than a standard guitar shred album. Jul 27, 2024

This was a big step backwards. Machine Head hopped on the Nu Metal trend, though at this point they were too late to be an important player... and they also didn't play it very well. The odd Grunge number "Message in a Bottle" is the best track here. Jul 27, 2024

3 days ago

Great classic album with incredible songs like "The Evil That Men do","Moonchild" or "The Clairvoyant". Mar 4, 2025

Mar 10, 2025

I'm pretty sure this is the best debut in history. Sonata Arctica immediately does what they do best and the result is amazing. "FullMoon" is a great song. Mar 11, 2025

Great album but not at the level of the debut in my opinion. The band tries a bit of progressive direction with pretty good results, although some songs are quite weak. The end of the album is great. Good job Sonata! Mar 11, 2025

DT caught my attention with their previous album and this one confirms my thoughts on them. I´m not so fond of their old stuffs but these 2 keep me on my feet and I will go back to them regularly. Mar 12, 2025

Very good album by Dream Theater. As always Mar 4, 2025

The "Ram It Down" is a very underrated album, but in 1988 in the german Metal Hammer looked like a new classic by the soundcheck.Otherwise the "Ram it Down" and the "Hard As Iron"(with thundering riff) are great fast classic Priest songs. All in all i think only the "Love Zone" is the only one problematic song and the Lp is great.. Mar 8, 2025
