Emerald Sword is amazing. The remade version of Land of Immortals is stellar. I'd argue better than the original. And, since this is the version that made it to the "Tales of the Emerald Sword Saga" compilation, I assume the band felt so too. Where Dragons Fly is solid, though it lacks the oomph of the other two. But considering the quality of the other two, that's some stiff standards to be compared against.   Mar 20, 2022

The first time I listened to most of these songs, I went "meh", but several of them have since grown on me. Some songs, such as Lost and Sinead, are very dependent on my mood whether I want to listen to them or not. It's got the quintessential power metal song, Emerald Sword. I also really enjoy Wisdom of the Kings, Wings of Destiny, and Symphony of Enchanted Lands. The sore thumb of the album is Beyond the Gates of Infinity. It just feels off, and I've pulled it from my music rotation. Heroes of the Lost Valley is (I guess) a song, and I never ended up putting it in my rotation to begin with.   Feb 9, 2021

Its got highs and lows. In particular, Octavarium is fantastic. This is somewhat counteracted by I Walk Beside You. LaBrie sounds like he's forcing the notes to sing in that key signature, and it ends up sounds dissonant. The other tracks vary from listenable to skippable.   Feb 9, 2021

아무래도 이 1집에서는 많은 이들이 Sweet Child o' Mine을 꼽겠지만, 내게 있어서 이 앨범 최고의 곡은 절대적으로 Nightrain이다. 밴드의 정체성, 색깔, 연주력 등을 한 번에 대변해주는 곡이랄까. 심지어 가사까지 말이다. 같이 늙어간다는 말이 어울리겠지만, 그때의 열정 속에서 Nightrain을 외치고 연주를 하던 그들의 모습은 정말로 젊음의 영웅이자 양아치였다.   Mar 19, 2025
