Cosmicism 95/100
This album's deeply sad and very heavy music just astounded me. There's a symphonic element that comes in very often, but it's done in good taste, meaning it's integrated into the compositions. Extremely well done. Jul 24, 2024

I was feeling good about the instrumentation, which is probably a challenge to play. However, the vocals have this futuristic effect on them, and they feel stuck in a kawaii rut. It definitely drags down the overall score significantly. Jul 24, 2024

After my disappointment with Orange Goblin, the stoner realm came back with much higher quality when I heard this yesterday. Respect to the Patriarchs for covering Kashmir successfully. On the other hand, none of the original songs on this album are as good as Kashmir, but almost zero songs in the universe are, so no big surprise. All in all, a solid listen. Jul 21, 2024

A good example of the slam sub-genre, but these guys surely have their own way of doing things. Also, that nightmarish mass murder cover art is well done in conception and execution, so I can view it without transforming into an incel neckbeard. Sigh of relief. Jul 21, 2024

Bizarre, hard-to-name feelings come through on this very doomy sludge, and then out of nowhere it's more like early Deep Purple. This release is nowhere near the top of 2024, but it's unique and it displays creative thinking, and I think this makes it a rather memorable album. Jul 21, 2024

I'm glad I recalled my fond memory of their previous release and listened to this one first chance I got. If anything, this is better than the last one. Highly recommended. Jul 21, 2024

The doom melodies are beautiful & haunting in a Swallow the Sun kind of way, and the harsh vocals are good, but those clean vocals drag the quality down a little, feeling quite awkward. Jul 21, 2024
Cosmicism 65/100
All things considered, it's just a bit on the negative side, but with that glorious album cover I felt a huge letdown. The singing is not so good and it just keeps going on autopilot without enough breaks. The tinfoil hat lyrics on track 4 add a bit of pain as well, really contradicting the album title. This record is plain old not for me. Jul 21, 2024

Nice surprise. That genre mix had me suspicious, but their music is a lot of fun and it's quite interesting too. The vocals include rapping, screaming, and singing. The female vocalist outshines the male one, but then again the dueling aspect of the vocals is one of the best points. Those sultry female vocals, in particular, make it a memorable album. I also appreciated how track 8 criticizes when youth culture goes maddeningly unintelligent. Jul 21, 2024
Cosmicism 80/100
I can get into this one a bit, but not too much. I couldn't shake the feeling that something is missing from a lot of these songs. Overall, still good. Jul 21, 2024
Cosmicism 95/100
The ferocity that this music has really surprised me. Yes it gets around to blackgaze moments, and it is atmospheric BM, but it felt like the 1st priority was straight-up evil black metal, and that was an extremely good choice. I'm really impressed with Raat here. Jul 21, 2024

Very good album by Seth, a veteran group without a doubt. Jul 21, 2024

I love being in this industrial soundscape and the new wave soundscape toward the end. For me, this is an extremely fun album. Jul 18, 2024
Cosmicism 60/100
The vocals are just annoying rambling rumblings, and the sound bites really tested my patience. Not a good example of slam. Jul 18, 2024
Cosmicism 95/100
This vicious album starts off very well and quickly gets better & better. I'm not a fan of using the word holocaust just for sounding intense, but oh well that's their choice. No matter what, this is completely brilliant music form start to finish. Jul 18, 2024

The choice of cover art might mislead you and make you expect some mid-tier music. This man's sense of melody is at a much higher tier. The songs remained in my head in a very nice way. Ortha is now another artist to watch. Jul 18, 2024

This artist is so intense, and this album's raw intensity and rabid energy might give some people a heart attack. Also note the slightly different genre. This guy is a real force, whatever he does. Jul 18, 2024
Cosmicism 80/100
I really don't need vocals to be in all music, but with this album he incorporated vocals and this allowed him to create a very powerful sense of melancholy. The songs are all motivated due to this. Also, the ambient sections are better than the earlier releases. Overall, it's a solid good album and a big step up in quality. Great work, Shadowland. Jul 18, 2024

Nice textbook atmospheric BM, owing everything to Lustre very obiously. Kind of basic, but not bad at all. Jul 18, 2024
Cosmicism 65/100
No metal here, just ambient. It has some nice moments, but it feels too simple and it tested my patience a bit. Absolutely not a terrible listen, but I feel a little negative about it. Jul 18, 2024
Cosmicism 50/100
Mostly, the songs go nowhere, and the vocals are worse. In a few moments the guitar melodies would inject some emotion into these songs, but the terrible vocals drain it right back out again - it's just a scratchy voice with no purpose, making everything worse. It's like the album has a giant blank space where the emotion usually goes. It's a big failure. Jul 18, 2024
Cosmicism 75/100
The guitars really shine throughout this album. Mark's vocals have good intensity and he projects his voice very well, but I only feel him putting out the power as opposed to conveying emotions, so I think the later singers work a lot better with this kind of music. All in all, pretty good. Jul 18, 2024

Maybe their weakest album, but I can still get into it a bit. Jul 18, 2024

Very good dissonant BM. Glad to learn of this unique artist. Jul 16, 2024
Cosmicism 90/100
His first full-length is just delectable and very well put together. I mean that even though it's 59 minutes, it feels like a dense & concise much shorter album. Without overthinking it, he tapped into all the major 2nd Wave influences and used all the tactics that made that material work so well. The result is extremely pleasing. Big thanks to Evilfeast for such a strong discography. Jul 16, 2024
Cosmicism 85/100
This album has some real musical ideas spread throughout. The early songs that are dissodeath, or at least partly so, excite me the most. There are other good parts, but I don't really get into the last slow song. Overall, I like this album better than their 2013 one. Jul 16, 2024

I always appreciate these Lovecraftian themes, and this is pretty good death doom. Starspawn of Cthulhu is now officially a band to look into more. Jul 14, 2024

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024

완벽하다. 지금와서 painkiller 정도의 힘을 기대하는 것은 무리지만 관록과 경험으로 영그러진 놀라운 앨범을 냈다. 엔지니어링도 크게 한몫했다. Oct 31, 2024
