Greater Art has beautiful cover, some good musical ideas in style of Doom Metal, but the weak point are the vocals of Daniel Brennare. If there were added a better quality vocals, the rating would be definitely much higher. Fortunately, he worked on himself on later albums. Nov 23, 2022

Compared to the other works by Lake of Tears, the heavy guitars are much more pronounced on here. The heaviness of the guitars and drums, they nearly crush your skulI. I consider Headstones to be one of the band's best albums. Nov 23, 2022

Crimson Cosmos combines Doom Metal with folk and 70s influences, Hard Rock parts and psychedelic and fantastical themes to many of the lyrics. Nov 23, 2022

Scanner’s second return to the scene has been concluded in a fabulous way the band eventually succeeded in reaching the high standards from the-80’s, while the music reflected the Power/Speed Metal style of the time. At the same time, Progressive and Heavy Metal elements are audible in the "Ball of the Damned" album. Nov 21, 2022

The Adrenalize album had the difficult task of continuing and carrying the band's brand high after the release of the mega-successful previous album. It is the first album by the band, recorded without guitarist Steve Clark who died in 1991. Instead of replacing Steve Clark with a new member, the band recorded the album as a four piece. His death definitely affected the band during the creation and recording of the album. Nov 21, 2022

Album contains many of the band's timeless hits, which they still play at concerts. Pyromania is the first album to feature guitarist Phil Collen who replaced founding member Pete Willis and is band third studio album. Album was partially recorded with Willis, whose rhythm guitar tracks appear on all songs. Toward the end of the recording, Willis was fired for alcohol abuse and replaced by Collen, who contributed solos and guitar parts not yet recorded by Willis. Nov 21, 2022

On Through the Night was released on 14 March 1980 and was produced by Tom Allom (Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Strawbs, ect.). Album is more straightforward, lacking the later imagination, lightness and ability to write powerful rock hits. Album features re-recorded tracks from the band's original independently released EP and re-recorded versions of early demos. Nov 21, 2022

High 'n' Dry is the second studio album by Def Leppard and was last full-time album for guitarist Pete Willis. Album continues in the vein of the anthemic melodic Hard Rock of their debut. Band is clearly more confident outfit here and it can be said, that they has find their sound. Nov 21, 2022

Diamond Star Halos is the twelfth studio album by the English Rock legend Def Leppard & was released nearly seven years since 2015's Def Leppard. New album is full of simple and punchy songs with great melodies, which will remind you of the band's best times, that became one of the biggest bands in the world in the mid eighties. Nov 21, 2022

Jonah's Ark is simply very consistent album and I never skip a single song when playing the album. Skyclad has the folky elements akin to folk songs from the middle ages with catchy melodies, gruff clean vocals, driven by distorted guitar and occasional keyboards, supplemented by intelligent lyrics. Nov 20, 2022

"Prince of the Poverty Line" by Skyclad offers up some of the most strongest, inventive and interesting first wave Folk Metal ever. The music is sharp, aggressive, and catchy with that unique folk sound, accented by the use of the fiddle, that Skyclad has mastered. Nov 20, 2022

Armored Saint is probably best known as the former band of John Bush, while his days and quality work with this band is often overlooked. Delirious Nomad contains the best Armored Saint songs packed with a clear and heavy production. Armored Saint’s second studio recording offers strong Heavy Metal. Nothing more, nothing less. Nov 20, 2022

Armored Saint is of those Heavy Metal bands that had everything to become big, but for unknown reasons they always failed to reach major success. One of the strong points of Armored Saint is their ability to write catchy and addicting riffs. I also want to mention that "Raising Fear" has one of the best metal album cover arts I’ve seen. Nov 20, 2022

A pretty good live recording, even if it has a weaker sound at times. Tracks was recorded live at the Agora Ballroom, Cleveland, USA. Last song "No Reason to Live" was taken from the first demo sessions in 1982. Nov 20, 2022

very bad & very weird album, a furious mix of different styles forced together, but don't fit together. There's a lack of coherence, good ideas and most of the time songwriting gets sacrificed for general weirdness. Nov 20, 2022

Human definitely marked the beginning of a new era for Death and is more mature than most of its contemporaries at the time. The music is not exactly my style, but I can appreciate the quality of the album, as I have listened to it several times in the past and I will definitely listen to it again in the future. Nov 20, 2022

As far as its impact on Metal, it is one of the earliest Melodic Death Metal albums. The fusion of thrash inflected traditional heavy metal riffs with death metal parts and melodies showed that what was once old could be cobbled into something new. Songs are of a high standard of quality that one would expect from an album deemed to be one of the best in its genre. Nov 20, 2022

Individual Thought Patterns is one of Death's mid-releases and is another album with new line-up. Yes, Steve DiGiorgio was still left in the bass but Paul Masvidal was replaced by Andy LaRocque (King Diamond, Illwill) and Sean Reinert was replaced by Gene Hoglan (Dark Angel, Testament, etc.). This album clearly sounds like a band that just wanted to explore the progressive world and move away from the death metal world. Nov 20, 2022

very good album, still I prefer Use Your Illusion I & II little bit more. With over 30 million copies sold worldwide, it is also one of the best selling albums of all time. Original album cover art depicted a robotic rapist about to be punished by a metal avenger. It was subsequently replaced with an image depicting a Celtic cross and skulls of the five band members. Nov 20, 2022

as I wrote in the previous part of UYI, this should be in every rock & metal fan's library. Albums were released on September 17, 1991, so it's been more than 31 years since the release, and they still entertain. Use Your Illusion albums represent a turning point in the sound and music of Guns N' Roses. Music still contains Hard Rock sound/guitar parts, but is more diverse, incorporating elements of blues, classical music and classic rock and roll. Nov 20, 2022

This should be in every rock & metal fan's library. I don't see a difference in quality between Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II. Both albums contain excellent songs and many unforgettable moments. Nov 20, 2022

Music here is monstrously brilliant mix of quality musical ideas & top notch production. Another great album, although slightly weaker than the previous one, as it also contains two less prominent songs. Ozzy had just such a perfect voice for this genre at the time. Nov 20, 2022

I think that No More Tears is best Ozzy Osbourne album. This was the top point of Zakk Wylde career as well as one of the best times for Ozzy (including period with Black Sabbath). So many hits based on guitar oriented songs on one album. Everything sounds just awesome in this album, the vocals, guitars, drums and bass guitar. Nov 20, 2022

Moonflower Society is Avantasia’s ninth release (I don't count two EP recordings) and successfully utilizes the project’s strengths and offers an perfect album, that is good enough to warrant a listen & buy. Nov 20, 2022

combination of Technical Death/Thrash Metal. They are not among the best bands of the genre, as sometimes the music is monotonous, but as a whole it is capable. Nov 19, 2022

This album represents one of the highlights of the band’s creativity as well as its mastery of Doom/Gothic Metal. Draconian Times is timeless, elegant, sophisticated and powerful. Overall, what Paradise Lost created here is an album for the ages. A milestone in metal music in general. The brilliance of this album lies in its ability to please die-hard metal fans as well as casual listeners. The riffs are heavy, but not unbearably crushing. Nov 18, 2022

I have a weakness for the Cemetary group. I was initially interested in their next two albums and then I fell in love with the entire discography. Music on Godless Beauty combines Melodic Death/Doom & Gothic Metal. Cemetary’s songs are fairly basic in design in slow or mid-paced tempo, with lot of emotions, dreary moods, atmospheric lead guitars, interesting solos, beautiful melancholy and the darkness of riffs. Nov 18, 2022

Christofer Johnsson made the smartest move in his carreer to let his bandmates cooperate on the material at such a large scale. Therion sounds at Gothic Kabbalah album more as a band than ever. Therion manages to pull of just over 80 minutes of complete originality Symphonic/Operatic mythological Metal album. And the singing is generally famous. One of their best albums since 2000. Nov 17, 2022

One year after releasing Deggial album, Therion are back with great Secret of the Runes album. There are a lot of good things: the riffs are just amazing & when there are guitar solos, they fit perfectly well with the song structure. Singing consists of two different styles, an operatic male vocalist and operatic female background vocals. Music transports listener to the nine worlds of Norse myth, reveling in the glory of the gods and the valor of men. Nov 17, 2022

Leviathan II is the second instalment of Therions Leviathan Trilogy launched last year with the release of the first part. The album is packed with everything what we knew in the past and that's a combination of Symphonic/Operatic Rock & Metal. The music is mostly in medium or slow tempo with less prominent guitars and a rhythm section while choirs & orchestrations are, as always a significant part of music. Nov 17, 2022

5 days ago

Mar 10, 2025

I'm pretty sure this is the best debut in history. Sonata Arctica immediately does what they do best and the result is amazing. "FullMoon" is a great song. Mar 11, 2025

Great album but not at the level of the debut in my opinion. The band tries a bit of progressive direction with pretty good results, although some songs are quite weak. The end of the album is great. Good job Sonata! Mar 11, 2025

DT caught my attention with their previous album and this one confirms my thoughts on them. I´m not so fond of their old stuffs but these 2 keep me on my feet and I will go back to them regularly. Mar 12, 2025

The "Ram It Down" is a very underrated album, but in 1988 in the german Metal Hammer looked like a new classic by the soundcheck.Otherwise the "Ram it Down" and the "Hard As Iron"(with thundering riff) are great fast classic Priest songs. All in all i think only the "Love Zone" is the only one problematic song and the Lp is great.. Mar 8, 2025

Mar 9, 2025

Fantastic classic album with the legendary Ronnie James Dio.. Mar 9, 2025
