This one was a step in the wrong direction for me. Felt way too experimental, less metallic too. Jan 12, 2025

Waaay too bloated with filler and too slow in general. And not slow in a doomy way... just a boring way. This one lacks in every respect. Across 15 tracks, there isn't a single one I'd call great. Jan 12, 2025

Actually, I find this one of Devin's stronger albums. Considering I don't like his weirdo goofy stuff, this darker, more serious take on his style sat better with me. Jan 12, 2025

I dunno if I'm crazy, but I put this up there with their old stuff. It's fantastic, super energetic and the riffs are... weirdly angular, but in a frantic, catchy way. Awesome! Jan 12, 2025

Huge improvement over the debut. Genuinely riveting Blackened Thrash. Jan 12, 2025

Fantastic example of modern (well... at the time) Death Thrash. Also some more melodic Heavy Metal influence here. The songwriting is very strong. Jan 12, 2025

First half, which is new material, is great. Second half, which I believe is pulled straight from a demo/EP, not so much. Really shouldn't have released the album in this state. Jan 12, 2025

This one took a lot to grow on me. But, it's really fantastic if you give it a chance. It has a bit less focus on melodeath riffing, yeah, but the atmosphere is fantastic, not to mention some exquisite lyrical themes and keys. Jan 12, 2025

And here we have Dark Moor's sophomore, which is considered a huge improvement on their debut. Production wise, it certainly is. But composition wise, I feel they're about the same. This one doesn't impress me as it does most. Jan 12, 2025

I dunno why this is considered as one of the worst Power Metal albums. Well, I guess I can - the production is poor, the vocals aren't very good - but musically it's still a pretty great package. Jan 12, 2025

One of the first Sympho-Death albums I ever got into. I suppose it's more Melodeath with rather sparse symphonic elements, but I still think this is a fantastic piece of music. Jan 12, 2025

Underrated, almost as strong as their prior album in my opinion. Still a great showing from this band. Jan 12, 2025

Big drop in quality from their previous material, too much groovy meandering, although Dream Weaver is a great and unique track. Jan 12, 2025

Amazing masterpiece of Neoclassical Metal. A lot more Power Metal than their debut. The melodies here are just incredible, especially the dueling keys and guitar. Jan 12, 2025

Melodeath Power Metal in theory should be one of my favorite things ever. The issue is, this album is missing the darkness of the former and the catchiness of the later. Still great, but missing so of my favorite aspects of the genres it mixes. Jan 12, 2025

Better than the last album, but not by much. A good Gothic release, but it doesn't compare to the band's early works. Jan 12, 2025

The band continues getting more progressive and less Viking. They're still playing great music, but it's a slight downgrade to me. Jan 12, 2025

I will say, as someone who really isn't into this music, Parts II and III are really good, which is a huge achievement in this genre. Parts I and IV completely drop the ball though. Jan 12, 2025

A step up from part 1 on account of it being Metal and having some more power to it. Still though, I don't find myself wanting to come back to this one. Jan 12, 2025

It's just a bit too boring for me. Sure I can appreciate the cool story thematics, but musically, I need more, be it energy, melodies, choruses, just anything to grip me. Jan 12, 2025

Good album, but as someone who loves Power Metal, I will say it just has too many slower Heavy Metal numbers that don't do much for me. Jan 12, 2025

Anthem is one of my favorite traditional Heavy Metal bands, Graham Bonnet is one of my favorite vocalists, but oddly enough, the union is not the miracle I'd hoped it be. Graham's vocals just sound... off? Like the mixing wasn't great... and the music is, in my opinion, completely worthless as it sounds the same or worse as the original recordings, with no improvements made in any way. Still solid because the base songs kick ass, but so disappointing. Jan 12, 2025

Another fantastic album from Angel Dust. They absolutely can't miss. This one sounds like a concept album... a German soldier who feels regret over their actions in WWII is what comes to mind, but it could just be a concept of ignorant follower feeling guilt for following evil leader. Anyway... music is incredible, thrashy, passionate, anthemic. Jan 12, 2025

Gothic and even Doomy Sympho Metal album, high quality front to back, fantastic debut. Jan 11, 2025

The band had already taken a nosedive by this point. This last gasp of air proved another futile and worthless effort... "effort" being a generous word. Jan 11, 2025

Solid little EP, though unfortunately the best song on it (Senzafine) gets re-recorded even better for the full length album. Still worth it for "Hyperfast" and "Stars." Jan 11, 2025

Awesome little EP, quality OSDM, though it sounds very similar to Edge in Sanity's massively underrated debut. Jan 11, 2025

A very unique take on Heavy Metal featuring a unique style of Finnish guitar playing. Unfortunately it's not all that exciting to listen to, but I respect it for being different. The doomier tracks are great. Jan 11, 2025

Some of the cringiest Thrash I've ever heard. Actually a couple great riffs here and there, but the band's abysmal sense of humor ruins most of the tracks. Jan 11, 2025

I was super surprised at the sound shift here. A focus on lead guitar melodies, some synths and clean vocals make this the band's best album to this point. Jan 11, 2025

3 days ago

Great classic album with incredible songs like "The Evil That Men do","Moonchild" or "The Clairvoyant". Mar 4, 2025

Mar 10, 2025

I'm pretty sure this is the best debut in history. Sonata Arctica immediately does what they do best and the result is amazing. "FullMoon" is a great song. Mar 11, 2025

Great album but not at the level of the debut in my opinion. The band tries a bit of progressive direction with pretty good results, although some songs are quite weak. The end of the album is great. Good job Sonata! Mar 11, 2025

DT caught my attention with their previous album and this one confirms my thoughts on them. I´m not so fond of their old stuffs but these 2 keep me on my feet and I will go back to them regularly. Mar 12, 2025

Very good album by Dream Theater. As always Mar 4, 2025

The "Ram It Down" is a very underrated album, but in 1988 in the german Metal Hammer looked like a new classic by the soundcheck.Otherwise the "Ram it Down" and the "Hard As Iron"(with thundering riff) are great fast classic Priest songs. All in all i think only the "Love Zone" is the only one problematic song and the Lp is great.. Mar 8, 2025
