Amazing! Sacrilege has steered the direction of their music to Trad Doom Metal, and it turned out to be darn awesome. The female vocals really do the trick, going surprisingly well with the Doom riffs. Sep 15, 2015

Sticky, sticky Black Metal. The songs are made very well, incorporating top notch riffs with those grainy Darkthrone vocals with a bit of Heavy Metal style vocal usage. Sep 15, 2015

Call me crazy, but even though this album scored 96 points on Metallum I really didn't feel the album, so to speak. Maybe it requires 50 listens before it clicks, but I'd rather listen to other Epic Doom releases on that precious time. Sep 15, 2015

Great Black Metal work. The songs are fine, what this band needs more of are track naming skills. Sep 15, 2015

Great band with a great debut album. These guys were probably the heaviest band around at their time. Excluding the filler tracks every single song is excellent. Sep 14, 2015

A dopey, psychedelic Thrash Metal trip. Deeply breathe in the weird Old School Progressive Thrash fume, I'm sure you'll see stuff. Sep 14, 2015

Blackened Thrash that gives out an Old School revival feeling. Sounds like a modernized Venom, and it's frankly really satisfying to listen to. Sep 14, 2015

An atmosphere that corners you, and then slowly suffocates you in a dismal wall of sound. A morbid, divine, breathtaking experience. Sep 13, 2015

I, finally, excavated a brilliant album from the unfathomable abyss of obscure metal bands without failure. What a gem. The amazing riffs reminded me of Sleep. Sep 12, 2015

Great melodeath that desperately tries to be awful. For me, the clean vocals ruined the songs. Every time it switched between harsh and clean was just too awkward. Sep 12, 2015

Sep 12, 2015

+5 Points for Hell's Kitchen, now with zero percent of Labrie wankery. Sep 12, 2015

Vocals that fit in somewhere between Demilich and Immolation, abysmally heavy songs plus amazing leads that sometimes even give a blues rock feeling. Was nothing alike what I had heard before. Sep 12, 2015

Blaze Bayley ain't the greatest vocalist for Maiden. Still, they managed to pull out some good songs like Blood on the World's Hands(every bass player's must-learn) and The Unbeliever. Sep 12, 2015

Meddlecore with tapping, beepy guitars that meddle the whole song. The melodic aspects as well as the timely breakdowns are things that stand out on this album. Sep 12, 2015

So intense. Not your average buckshot-in-your-face Grindcore, but more like relentless nuclear warhead bombardment. Heavy artillery is what you want from Grindcore, I promise. Sep 11, 2015

The slow but deathly approach is enough to crack open your pelvis and drain out your bone marrow. Sep 10, 2015

Retro Heavy Metal, being as real as it gets. The melody lines are crafted very well, but aren't that much memorable. Sep 10, 2015

Such an epic Doom Metal album. The riffs are almost too perfect to be a real one. I do have mixed feelings about the blatant upright cross on the album cover though. I mean, Candlemass aren't a Christian band and they only use the visuals, but still.... Sep 10, 2015

"Psychotic" is just the word for this album. Its brutal and intense sound runs for a full 1 hour and numbs your mind. (I prefer their second release, though.) Sep 10, 2015

One of the first Atmospheric Black/Folk Metal albums I've listened to. It made a great impression on me, especially after I knew for the first time that Metal can give out such a hopeless feeling. Sep 10, 2015

Agalloch is one of the few bands that uses cliché nature sounds to make amazing songs. The gloomy, barren and arid atmosphere leads the album into a dark and melancholic pit. Which is good. Sep 10, 2015

Abominator(from Demilich) on backing vocals spices up the songs by a great degree. That plus Swedish(I know they're Finnish) buzzsaw-noise Death Metal? Ear candy if you ask me. Sep 8, 2015

Full blown amazingness. It gives out a Trad Heavy Metal feeling but with a wicked touch, making the album a one-of-a-kind. Sep 8, 2015

Labrie's voice sounds like a whining jilted teenage girl that posts selfies of her crying on facebook after getting dumped by her boyfriend. Sep 7, 2015

Early day Meshuggah did more like convoluted Thrash Metal. This means their musical journey was just sprouting and showing its green leaves. Which soon went all yellow. Sep 6, 2015

Very tractable but exquisite. So the songs soak in your head very nicely, still never losing its classy greatness. The album also presents a nice mix of jolly and melancholic songs. Sep 6, 2015

Listened to this album only because there was Luc Lemay on guest vocals. Was impressed by the hideous intensity, especially on track no.8. Sep 5, 2015

An album that has its roots deep inside the orthodox regions of Black Metal. Wasn't all that memorable but overall it pulled off a pretty interesting atmosphere with its unique wall-of-sound. Sep 5, 2015

Mar 30, 2025

I'm pretty sure this is the best debut in history. Sonata Arctica immediately does what they do best and the result is amazing. "FullMoon" is a great song. Mar 11, 2025

Great album but not at the level of the debut in my opinion. The band tries a bit of progressive direction with pretty good results, although some songs are quite weak. The end of the album is great. Good job Sonata! Mar 11, 2025

DT caught my attention with their previous album and this one confirms my thoughts on them. I´m not so fond of their old stuffs but these 2 keep me on my feet and I will go back to them regularly. Mar 12, 2025

4 days ago

Like "Silence", only 1000 times better. The band's absolute best album. Not all the songs are masterpieces, but the best ones are incredible and the atmosphere of the album is epic. Mar 11, 2025

그 나이에 이게 데뷔앨범 이라는게 믿기지 않는다...다만 이때 모든 힘을 쏟은 것일까...ㅠ Mar 12, 2025

Probably Judas Priest's most commercially successful album, and it's extremely good. The song material is brilliant, and if we forget the existence of "Pain And Pleasure" and "Fever", it's perfect. The "Hellion/Electric Eye" duo is still one of the greatest opening tracks in metal history. The production is tuned to exactly the level that a band of this class should have. And then there's Rob Halford. Absolutely phenomenal, a top-3 Priest album for me. Mar 13, 2025

Rainbow leaves classic hard rock behind with their second album and begins to create the beginnings of the genre that would later be called power metal. The song material is practically perfect and the album features perhaps the strongest band line-up in history. The last two songs are pure masterpieces. If melodic old-school heavy metal with incredible vocal performances interests you, now you know where to look. Legendary! Mar 15, 2025
