Shockingly good, given the band's track record. Incredibly catchy and infectious, full of energy and emotion. Also, EPIC. Jun 4, 2022

Some ripping tracks here, but also a lot of bad filler. Not needed as an EP. Jun 4, 2022

Crazy stuff, near Funeral Death Doom with plenty of Avant-Garde tendencies, fantastic dissonant keys creating an anxious, oppressive atmosphere. Riffs might as well be nonexistant though. Jun 4, 2022

Generic guitar hero stuff from MacAlpine, who we know can do better. Gila Monster manages to be a really cool track here though. Jun 4, 2022

Pretty cool Death Doom record with tons of energy, dark riffs, what's not to like. Jun 4, 2022

This is mostly Groove Metal as opposed to Thrash, but it's still pretty great. Interesting finding death growls here on a track. Jun 4, 2022

I don't care what the popular opinion is, this is by far my favorite Symphony X album. The riffs are fantastic, there's a ton of Power Metal and speed, and the vocals are really passionate! Jun 4, 2022

Stratovarius deliver another hyper-melodic Power Metal album, nothing amazing yet but definitely passable. Jun 4, 2022

Soundgarden have never been more to me than pretty straightforward Grunge/ Alt Metal. This album is considered possibly their best, but to me it's another dose of mediocrity. Jun 4, 2022

Fantastic Epic Doom mixed with melancholic true Doom. I'll take this over Candlemass or Solitude Aeturnus any day. Jun 4, 2022

More standard Epic Doom. Closer "Shattered My Spirit" is the best track they've written, but the album is less consistent overall. Jun 4, 2022

Sodom go Crossover Thrash here. It's not bad, but nowhere near as good as their pure Thrash material. Jun 4, 2022

At the time, this was a very unique take on Death Metal. Oddly melodic and a bit gloomy, difficult to label but it's a grower for sure. Jun 4, 2022

Another great album from Savatage, more melodic balladry bordering classic Metal riffage. Jun 4, 2022

A pretty rotten album considering the band's history, and it's not even because of the drum machine, which is fine to me. Lyrically and musically amateur. Jun 4, 2022

An interesting evolution for the band, very slightly playing with Industrial and Gothic Metal here. It works quite well. Jun 4, 2022

Probably Sabbat's heaviest and best album so far. Still doesn't reach crazy heights though. Jun 4, 2022

Underrated band right here, very early Sympho-Neoclassical Metal. Jun 4, 2022

Doomy MeloBlack with good atmosphere. The interlude in the middle really kills the momentum, but there's some great stuff on display here. Jun 4, 2022

Riot just going through the motions here, standard Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock, with a bit of Speed as well. Jun 4, 2022

I put this off for so many years cause I thought it was a compilation album. It's actually full of some of their heaviest, most aggressive material! Jun 4, 2022

Not a great album from Quorthon, but "Boy" is an amazingly heartfelt song, proving Quorthon's artistic flexibility. Jun 4, 2022

Another step down in both quality and heaviness, but this album does bring some dark, introspective themes to the table which is definitely enjoyable. Closing ballad "Someone Else?" is absolutely stunning. Jun 4, 2022

A very unique Prog Metal album that goes in a bunch of different directions, with a strong emphasis on Psychedelic atmospheres. Quite good! Jun 4, 2022

An odd mix of genres here, but none of it is really compelling. Jun 4, 2022

Pantera adopt a sludgier sound here in what might be their filthiest album. It's got some great southern aesthetic, but not many great riffs. Jun 4, 2022

Another mediocre Groove Metal album by Overkill, similar to their previous album. Jun 4, 2022

Highly overrated, and most of this is Electro-Industrial. Very unpleasant for me. Jun 4, 2022

Some more strong and dark Deathgrind, following the styles of the last couple albums. Jun 4, 2022

Their weakest at the time, but still a pretty good album. That cover art is something else though. Jun 4, 2022

4 days ago

Mar 10, 2025

I'm pretty sure this is the best debut in history. Sonata Arctica immediately does what they do best and the result is amazing. "FullMoon" is a great song. Mar 11, 2025

Great album but not at the level of the debut in my opinion. The band tries a bit of progressive direction with pretty good results, although some songs are quite weak. The end of the album is great. Good job Sonata! Mar 11, 2025

DT caught my attention with their previous album and this one confirms my thoughts on them. I´m not so fond of their old stuffs but these 2 keep me on my feet and I will go back to them regularly. Mar 12, 2025

The "Ram It Down" is a very underrated album, but in 1988 in the german Metal Hammer looked like a new classic by the soundcheck.Otherwise the "Ram it Down" and the "Hard As Iron"(with thundering riff) are great fast classic Priest songs. All in all i think only the "Love Zone" is the only one problematic song and the Lp is great.. Mar 8, 2025

Mar 9, 2025

Fantastic classic album with the legendary Ronnie James Dio.. Mar 9, 2025
