the music is quite capable, but the vocals are really bad and, from my point of view, repulsive. It doesn't fit together as a whole, it is soulless & overly-produced. Will Ramos' "vocals" are horrible. I can only hear disgusting pig squeals, absurd distorted vocals & laughably unreal roar, which you can hear in Brutal Death Metal. There are too much blast beats, exaggerated breakdowns and drums so triggered to the point, where they may be programmed. Dec 4, 2022

The whole "Paradox" album is brilliant, DC Cooper has an absolutely amazing voice and gives a breakout performance in his sophomore album with the band. Andre Andreson shows why he is the leader and founder of the band with his amazing work on the keyboards, while songwriting is at its peak, intregrating all the instruments and vocals into a sonic treat. "Moving Target" contains so many excellent songs such as "Far Away", "Step by Step", "Last Goodbye", etc. D.C. Cooper gives the tracks a soaring flair & strong vocal performance that's arguably the highlight of his career, accompanied by layers of imaginative and propulsive keyboards, boomy, driving drums and atmospheric guitar work. This album is a great offering by Royal Hunt's high standards. A sequel to the band's 1997 masterpiece Paradox has plenty of its own merits & is equal in quality to its predecessor. Boals shine with his trademark skyscraping vocals & high notes that gives the vocal arrangements a more dramatic, varied feel. Dec 2, 2022

Angel Dust was formed 1984, but never got the attention and respect they truly deserved. "Into the Dark Past" album contains great Speed/Thrash Metal. After the intro, the fast guitar riffs comes with some killer solos, overall both guitarists make for a excellent guitar work. Drums are very fast on this album and gruff vocal completed the whole album. Dec 1, 2022

Hear 'n Aid was a charity record recorded by ensemble of 40 Rock & Metal musicians, organized by Ronnie James Dio, Jimmy Bain and Vivian Campbell. They recorded the single "Stars" together, the rest of the compilation album was filled out with eight other tracks included live tracks by Kiss, Motörhead, Dio, Accept, Rush, Scorpions, Y&T and a studio recording by Jimi Hendrix. Proceeds from the album were used to raise money for famine relief in Africa. Dec 1, 2022

"The Final Countdown" is the third studio album by Swedish rock band Europe which has commercial success and reaching high positions in charts worldwide. It is the first album to feature keyboardist Mic Michaeli & drummer Ian Haugland. Five singles were released from the album: "The Final Countdown", "Love Chaser", "Rock the Night", "Carrie", and "Cherokee." Album sounds great, rhythmic, even modern beyond its years, but it's also very commercial. Dec 1, 2022

music on "Designation" is fast, unorthodox Thrash/Death Metal with aggressive voice and crushing riffs. Nov 29, 2022

"Made of Pain" album is strongly influenced by old Sepultura, however, it contains portion of good & quality ideas. Music on album brings gratifying moments for those who gave themselves effort of listening to a Thrash/Death Metal band, which was known mainly in the Eastern bloc of Europe mostly in the underground. "Twinaleblood" is quite an unbalanced album. It contains songs that are excellent, but also pieces that would be more suitable for a demo recording. Fortunately, there are more successful songs. The album goes through several styles from Doom/Gothic Metal to Alternative Rock. Both guitarists took care of the vocals, with one voice being better and the other weaker. Nov 28, 2022

Tracks on Helloween’s album My God-Given Right are fairly quick, catchy, fun-loving and heavy, while there’s no experimentation, or anything out of the ordinary. It is a safe release that doesn’t test new waters or push any boundaries. That's why it should be enjoyed. Relax, turn your brain off and sing loud along with this great band. Nov 27, 2022

"7 Sinners" is collection of powerful Melodic Power Metal anthems with more modern guitar tone, which will stay in your head as long as possible. I think the first thing to hit you about this album is so obviously the heaviness of the rhythm section, the weight of the guitars & the heavier and more muscular tone. It is a great album. Many people condemned this album already before it eventually came out. "Keeper of the Seven Keys: The Legacy" divided listeners into those who appreciate and like the album and those who find fault with it, either from the position of the title or the music. Personally, I expected a lot from the album and I am delighted with its result. The tracks are fresh, inspiring, with great technical & melodic guitar playing, soaring vocal lines and most diversified part of the legacy. Nov 27, 2022

United Alive is one of the best metal live releases ever , that is surely worth everyone’s time & is a must buy for Helloween fans and metal fans in general. A great reunion tour with Michael Kiske and Kai Hansen. Nov 27, 2022

"Dis Morta" is combination of the bands’ first two albums ("World Circus" & "Think This"), only wrapped in a modernized, sometimes sterilely abrasive cloak. These two albums are different from each other & Toxik evidently didn't want to alienate fans of either of the two. The band old fans should be happy all over, since it is a look back at a glorious past period of Technical Thrash & Speed Metal. Nov 26, 2022

"Days of the Lost" by new metal band The Halo Effect doesn’t really break any new ground, but it's good. Most songs are reminiscent of classic material by In Flames and Dark Tranquillity, which are former or current bands of individual members & nothing strays too far from the path that was set a long time ago. Which is something they’re definitely entitled to, given that they invented and innovated this particular musical style. Nov 26, 2022

Somewhere Far Beyond is a dark, aggressive Speed/Power Metal masterpiece with great production. The songs sound beautifully clear and yet very powerful. The atmosphere that Blind Guardian created in this album by using acoustic guitars is in a magisterial way, they don’t abuse of them, but only appear to emphasize the mood of the album. Nov 25, 2022

Imaginations from the Other Side was Blind Guardian's biggest departure at the time from their original Speed Metal roots. The songwriting on the album is absolutely superb, despite going in different direction, than we were used to. The synths and big choruses were gaining prominence, as was an increasing shift towards Power Metal. Nov 25, 2022

This album was more powerful, raw and faster than other German Speed/Heavy Metal bands, yet so much more melodic and dynamic than average German Thrash band. Blind Guardian perfectly fell in between everything there was to like about German metal creating their own niche of raw Thrash/Power Metal with the extremely recognisable voice of Hansi Kürsch. The production job was good enough for its time. Nov 25, 2022

I think this is Blind Guardian's best album. Without a doubt. Each song has strong ideas that instantly draws you in, and the choruses' are so anthemic that as soon as you learn the words you will be singing along to them to. Nov 25, 2022

"DMDS is an important piece of Black Metal history as the style of the music here helped to define black metal as distinct from other forms of 90s metal. Music is fast, furious and frenzied, but from my point of view the songs are too repetitive. In my opinion, Attila was the weakest link in an album that could only be considered mediocre. I think that this album is too overrated. The scandals and tragedies that accompanied its creation make it a cult. Nov 25, 2022

From start to finish, Coma of Souls is one of the greatest Thrash Metal albums ever. This is a must-have for anyone who claims to have any interest in Thrash. Petrozza’s vocals are outstanding, with him spitting, snarling and screaming like his life depended on it. Ultra-heavy, blazing riffs with shredding solos combined with crushing bass licks and scorching drums make this one vicious recording. Nov 24, 2022

This album is near perfect, it's heavy as all hell, there is no filler and almost no throw away riffs/lyrics. If you’re not headbanging violently by the first song, there is a strong possibility you’re wearing a neck brace. Little haunting intro to the title track soon gives way to vicious thrash riffing by the guitar duo of Max and Andreas, and those two don’t stop with fast and cruel riffs until the very end. Morbid Angel were one of the early pioneers of death metal. Massively influential both for their style and playing ability, they are undoubtedly legends of the style. But I've just never been able to really connect to their material that much. For me, it's just a decent album. Nov 24, 2022

Gutter Ballet is a breaking point in Savatage's career, because it is quite different than their previous releases, which were US Power/Heavy Metal. This album is more piano and orchestra orientated, with melodic, melancholic, dramatic and innovative parts. It's even maybe slightly progressive for that time. Nov 24, 2022

This album offers fast riffs in style of Speed/Heavy Metal & most excellent vocals by Tony Moore. Moore is often regarded as one of Riot's finest, if not the best one they ever had. It’s a long album, but there’s never a single boring moment on it. What may be for someone bit unnerving is, that there are little interludes between each song. Nov 24, 2022

ThunderSteel was a comeback album after the previous breakup of the band. Apart from the guitarist Mark Reale, the other three members were new. This was Riot's first foray into the Speed/Heavy Metal genre and their efforts were astounding. This is a piece of metal history that demands to be listened to. Nov 24, 2022

Greater Art has beautiful cover, some good musical ideas in style of Doom Metal, but the weak point are the vocals of Daniel Brennare. If there were added a better quality vocals, the rating would be definitely much higher. Fortunately, he worked on himself on later albums. Nov 23, 2022

Compared to the other works by Lake of Tears, the heavy guitars are much more pronounced on here. The heaviness of the guitars and drums, they nearly crush your skulI. I consider Headstones to be one of the band's best albums. Nov 23, 2022

Nov 4, 2024

Their most representative album of the eighties, full of innovation and class, with forceful themes and a benchmark in style for the hard rock genre, in fact it is their best-selling work to date! My personal precise rating is (94/100) Faves: Criyng In The Rain and Don´t Turn Away! Oct 30, 2024
