This one is another step in the wrong direction for me. The operatic choral vocals are overbearing and become annoying. With a more traditional vocal approach I might like this more, but even the music has become less energetic, like the band just lost their edge. Hidden masterpiece, for sure. Sentenced finally mastered their craft of barebones Gothic Metal, and this album is elevated by a great, raspy vocal performance featuring anthemic choruses and dark, melodramatic lyricism. Awesome package.   Jan 14, 2025

The vocals are so awful, and the music isn't nearly as evil as they'd like you to think it is, but it's just so damn fun. Dracula is probably their best track, with a dark Thrash riff that would be at home on any masterpiece.   Jan 14, 2025

My favorite Rotting Christ album up to this point. There's more energy and heaviness here, a starker focus on their Meloblack sound, but they retain Gothic influences in the leads, atmosphere, and mid-tempo sections. Best of both worlds.   Jan 14, 2025

Pantera's last album is, for me at least, a rather weak bow out of their inconsistent career. "Death Rattle" is a heavy and aggressive song reminiscent of The Great Southern Trendkill, but the rest is just a bit samey, not outstanding Groove Metal.   Jan 14, 2025

아무래도 이 1집에서는 많은 이들이 Sweet Child o' Mine을 꼽겠지만, 내게 있어서 이 앨범 최고의 곡은 절대적으로 Nightrain이다. 밴드의 정체성, 색깔, 연주력 등을 한 번에 대변해주는 곡이랄까. 심지어 가사까지 말이다. 같이 늙어간다는 말이 어울리겠지만, 그때의 열정 속에서 Nightrain을 외치고 연주를 하던 그들의 모습은 정말로 젊음의 영웅이자 양아치였다.   Mar 19, 2025
