This sounds like Amorphis; the same Amorphis that they have been. Which is exactly why I'm giving this album Very Good. Their trademark guitar work, which is elegant as an upstream river as always, is still there. Plus, the contrast between harsh and clean vocal never fails to picture a sonically distinct view. I don't know what to expect more. Feb 21, 2022

Gets boring a little bit too fast. Definitely a front-loaded album, although I have to admit that those good songs are legit fantastic. Feb 7, 2022

Pretty good. Sounds like what you would expect from instrumental djent albums. Feb 7, 2022

Certainly a super respectable album, and this is coming from someone who doesn't enjoy metalcore that much. Djent element mixes in really well, packing the album with very solid punches. Nov 23, 2021

There's something about the speed of this album that hits the dopamine switch. Can't exactly pinpoint every element, but thunderous vocal flow is certainly one of them. I really love it when the vocal ravishes my eardrums. Nov 23, 2021

No, just no. What is this chorus? What the fuck is that catastrophic pre-chorus? Why the hell this song ends like this? This sucks. Nov 16, 2021

I think I'm properly learning Black Metal because this sounds like some of the greatest shit I've ever heard Oct 10, 2021

A crazy good Alternative Metal album touched with pretty ridiculous touches from other genres. I mean, I think I can make a musical number out of Question!, or a party dance song out of Radio / Video (probably their Armenian root speaking up). All these hilarity without losing a single bit of heaviness. Every track is notable, but don't miss out on Question! because I think this is even more dope than B.Y.O.B. Oct 10, 2021

In the Court of the Dragon is the worst track- mixing blunders undermine the quality of this track and the track itself isn't even that good. However, Trivium dishes out some of the best tracks of their career thereafter. Such cuts include A Crisis of Revelation, The Shadow of the Abattoir, and The Phalanx. What really stops me from giving a higher score is that even those songs are not free from production blemishes. (+vocals in the chorus of Feast of Fire is weird) Oct 10, 2021

It seems like either their taste of mixing got significantly worse over time, or they can no longer afford proper sound engineering. The song structure itself is fine, and the insane drum part at the end is remarkable. However, it is mixed like there is a thin veil of plastic wrapping the song itself (and noticeably flat, in addition to that). I only heard this before properly listening to the new album, so this is really worrying. Oct 9, 2021

Synth-driven part drags on a little bit for my taste but damn, that breakdown goes hard AF Oct 7, 2021

Black Metal has always been in the backlog of my playlists- These kind of albums are the reason why it will change forever. While reminding me of how old school black metals 'should' feel (quotation because I can't come up with more appropriate word), Dissection laces in an additional layer of melodic guitars. The result is truly magical. Every track is notable, but please listen to Night's Blood if you have no time. Oct 7, 2021

A well-crafted Black Metal album laced with African-American music. Gospel + soul elements which are found everywhere sets this album apart from ordinary albums. Furthermore, this album is political and anguished at its heart; it came out in 2020, with song titles like Tuskegee and I Can't Breathe. This further strengthens emotional impact of screams, such as the last scream from Tuskegee. Oct 4, 2021

What seems to be an overlooked Melodic Death classic- with a hint of Black Metal. The moment where tremolo chorus transitions into melodic guitar solo in Deathmask Divine is a prime example of this, and the parts like this really makes the album enjoyable. Plus, cymbals are crisp as fuck and truly delightful to listen to. Notable songs are 'What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse' and 'Deathmask Divine'. Oct 4, 2021

Moment is, without a single doubt, a very well made album. As reviewers before me said, guitar solos are absolutely banging. However, to me, some songs do not sound distinguishable from songs from other albums. I don't remember this song from Charact- oh, it is from Moment. Maybe this is because I'm not that big of a DT fan. Huge respect to them for being this consistently good, regardless. Oct 1, 2021

The whole album sounds uninspired. Surgical Steel (which came out 8 years ago- time flies so fucking fast) was full of exciting moments, but I highly doubt that I would give more spins on this album. Sep 26, 2021

Kinda mid but it retains DT's own charm. Sep 25, 2021

Everything good about power metal with prog taste, concentrated in one album. Spread Your Fire, and The Shadow Hunter are two of the best songs I've ever heard (and probably will ever hear). I love how The Shadow Hunter divides this album into two parts: more power metal part and more prog metal part. Sep 25, 2021

30th Anniversary remaster update - Acoustic lines on the start of One and To Live Is to Die sound pristine as hell. Bass Drum sounds less like it is recorded with TR-808. Lastly, you can actually hear bass lines. So songs sound more moist, but with the same brutalism of the original. The best Metallica album definitely. As a notable highlight, riff switchups in ...And Justice for All hits me way harder after a decade. Sep 23, 2021

Return to form with some unbelievably corny songs. Jul 15, 2021

Haven't heard this album in a while but wow, this is bad. After 8 years, this aged like a parody of metal itself. People really crowned this kind of shit and wondered why metal is not mainstream anymore, huh? Jul 15, 2021

An absolute masterpiece of mid-tempo thrash, and it's a shame that an album with this degree of finesse is not talked about much. Matt's vocal is gorgeous, and wraps up the instrumental parts so well. Lyrics to the chorus of 'Eternal Empire' is a little bit head-shaking, though. ('No kingdom, empire'? Are we serious?) Jul 3, 2021

I've heard this kind of sound hundreds of times. Really nothing special, without Matt's vocal. At least it sounds good. Jul 3, 2021

This sounds like 'life blows so I'll hit the boof and vibe' album. Y'know, it's good and all, and probably less emotionally draining for him and ultimately I can't care less if he's doing good. But I want more 'life blows and I want to die' albums in my playlist. Like 'The Raven That Refused to Sing'. That bites. May 16, 2021

A lot of years passed and this album doesn't sound like it's dated. Apr 12, 2021

I can't fully comprehend what is going on but damn this is some hot shit just like when you get high on caffeine while being manic and you feel so many and you write down your ideas and work on it then boom it's the most immaculate shit I've ever done and both your angel and demon on your shoulders are proud of you. You don't get it? Good. Apr 12, 2021

My personal problem is that this album does not flow very well. Each individual song is as good as ones in Dirt or In Utero, but it feels like each song bleeds into one another at some point (not in a good way like What's Going On by Marvin Gaye, that album is so smooth). However, Layne's vocal here is goddamn perfect; it is painful to hear him crying out. So that compensates, somehow. Nov 15, 2020

Great classic album.I think this is far better than the part 1. Mar 3, 2025

One of the greatest hard rock/metal album.I think this is Coverdale's best album. Mar 3, 2025

Great classic album with incredible songs like "The Evil That Men do","Moonchild" or "The Clairvoyant". Mar 4, 2025

Mar 10, 2025

I'm pretty sure this is the best debut in history. Sonata Arctica immediately does what they do best and the result is amazing. "FullMoon" is a great song. Mar 11, 2025

Great album but not at the level of the debut in my opinion. The band tries a bit of progressive direction with pretty good results, although some songs are quite weak. The end of the album is great. Good job Sonata! Mar 11, 2025

DT caught my attention with their previous album and this one confirms my thoughts on them. I´m not so fond of their old stuffs but these 2 keep me on my feet and I will go back to them regularly. Mar 12, 2025

2 days ago

Great but a liitle bit inconsistent album. But the best 5 songs are so good that this Lp deserves 100 points. Mar 3, 2025

Incredible great album just excellent tracks. Mar 3, 2025

Great classic album.Maybe Bruce Dickinson's best album performance. Mar 3, 2025
