1OO Xssential Metal Albums

This special list collects my 100 favourite albums of Metal music. Various factors were taken into consideration when deciding on the selections (such as songwriting, musicianship, production, originality etc.), but the most important factor was ultimately how much PERSONAL ENJOYMENT I got out of the albums (also noting the amount of influence they had on me). So if your all-time favourites don't appear on this list, don't worry. There is a number of different Metal classics present here, as well as some underappreciated releases and rarities. Regardless of their style or status, one thing all of these releases have in common is that I love them all enough for inclusion.

~ NOTES ~

• Only full-length studio albums are allowed on the list. That means no singles, EPs, demos, compilations, live recordings or splits (a similar thing also applies to reissues that contain bonus tracks). There is absolutely no limit as to how many releases an artist/group is permitted to have on this list though.

• Every subgenre of Metal qualifies to be here including Glam Metal, Pop Metal, Alternative Metal, Industrial Metal, Nü Metal and Metalcore (since fortunately, I'm not narrow-minded). Psychedelic Rock and Hard Rock from the 1960s — 1970s that is vaguely metallic will be excluded though (as much as I enjoy groups such as Blue Cheer and UFO).

• I personally find it difficult to rank a whole bunch of favourite albums in some alleged "definitive" order, so this list has been RANDOMLY ARRANGED (the numbering is only to signify that there are exactly 100 albums present here).
